Gear stick/leveller change

the broken gear stick

Last weekend I was driving down to Belgium, when the gear stick broke while on the highway. The only way to drive back was to attach a metal pipe that I had, one that only allowed me to change between the second and forth gear! Anyway I manage to drive all the way from Belgium to Amsterdam without stopping once and always witht he forth gear on!

I ordered a new gear stick and the repair kit for the leveller. It is an easy fix in general. You just go under the car, remove the metal black box under the gear stick, take everything apart, clean them, treat any rust, re-assemble with the new parts (don't forget to use the special grease suggested by VW) and re-assemble.
